As a result of his tireless research, company founder Kokichi Mikimoto succeeded in culturing a pearl with a perfectly round shape. Shortly thereafter, Kokichi met the Meiji Emperor at Ise Shrine and said "I would like to adorn the necks of all women in the world with pearls." His words and ambitions remain with us today.
