The National Cherry Blossom Festival is a traditional event expressing Japanese-American friendship that dates back to 1912. Every year Mikimoto presents necklaces and other jewelry to the nationally selected Cherry Blossom Festival Queen. The festival crown was created by Mikimoto in 1956 and donated to the festival committee the following year.
