In June 1999, The Millennium Celebration was held in London under the sponsorship of De Beers. Mikimoto, selected as one of the world's eight representative jewelers, displayed a diamond brooch designed on the motif of the Phoenix, the mythical bird that represents eternity through its desire for immortality.
