Emerging as a fine jeweler specializing in pearls, Mikimoto combed the earth for the finest in design and technical achievement. Integrating art nouveau, garland and other influences from Europe, Mikimoto still celebrated traditional Japanese motifs such as the cherry blossom. And already by this time, Mikimoto craftsmen had mastered such advanced techniques as seed pearl and mille grain settings. |
