The influx of techniques and designs from Europe was interrupted by war, and Japanese craftsmen were left more to their own devices. Having mastered such refined techniques as mille grain and seed pearl settings, they went on to excel in calibre setting and lace work. These achievements helped lay the foundation for what we recognize today as Mikimoto style. |
