Diamonds that are nearly colourless are the ideal, said to be the most rare and valuable stones.

Based on the master stones of the G.I.A., the most colourless and transparent diamonds are graded D, and there are 23 lower grades, all the way down to Z, depending on the degree of yellowish coloration.

Some diamonds have extremely beautiful natural colours. The general term for them is 'fancy colour diamonds.' Naturally occurring colours include blue, green, yellow, and orange, and these diamonds are exceptionally rare and valuable.
