Akoya pearls are produced by Akoya oysters, which inhabit the waters near Japan. With a delicate pink tinge in their coloration, and their beautiful, elegant-looking lustre. Depending on the size of the oyster, most such pearls are 5 to 7 millimetres in diameter, but diameters over 9 millimetres are occasionally found.
