These are pearls grown in black lipped oysters in the waters off Ishigaki Island in Okinawa and in the waters off Tahiti. They come in many colours, from an understated silver to a true black. The so-called 'peacock green' pearl has an especially fine lustre and a green tinge to its basic black colouring. It attracts all with its mysterious radiance and is extremely rare and valuable.
