MIKIMOTO, the world-famous originator of cultured pearls, announces its jewellery will be featured on movie screens across the country this summer. This is the result of a new initiative to secure product placement in feature films and television. MIKIMOTO jewellery has adorned movie stars for decades. Product placement is a natural extension from everyday life to their performances onscreen.
On 23rd July, in MGM Pictures' Legally Blonde 2: Bigger, Bolder, Blonder, stars Reese Witherspoon and Sally Field will be seen wearing MIKIMOTO jewellery. Following on the "heels" of MGM's original box office hit Legally Blonde, the sequel finds Elle Woods heading to Washington, D.C. to fight for the rights of Bruiser, her beloved Chihuahua. With her flair for fashion, Elle wears stylish designer wardrobes and accessories, including MIKIMOTO pearl jewellery. "Legally Blonde 2 is sure to be one of the biggest hits of this summer and MIKIMOTO is thrilled to be a part of it".
Recently, Mattel decided to pay homage to this blonde go-getter by launching the collectible Barbie® doll as Elle Woods. Barbie® accessorizes with tiny pearl-esque earrings and a matching double strand pearl-esque necklace that are reminiscent of the MIKIMOTO necklace and earrings seen in the film.
