In October 2003 Breast Cancer Care celebrated their 30th Birthday. This worthwhile charity provides free information, practical assistance and emotional support for anyone affected by breast cancer across the UK.
Mikimoto was delighted to co-sponsor the Breast Cancer Care Fashion Show in October 2003 for the fourth year. On 9th October two fashion shows were held at the London Hilton, Park Lane. The two events, the first beginning at 1pm and the second at 6.30pm were sold out within a few days.
Mikimoto sponsored both champagne receptions which were followed by the fashion show. The models including actress Amanda Mealing have all experienced breast cancer and were transformed into stunning catwalk models by high profile designers and Mikimoto jewellery.
The evening event included an auction hosted by Christopher Biggins. Mikimoto donated one of their finest pieces, a beautiful triple row of the highest quality Akoya cultured pearls, incorporating a fine pave set diamond centrepiece crafted in the form of a ‘sakura’ cherry blossom flower, the national flower of Japan. A matching pair of Akoya cultured pearl earrings completed the set. Lisa Snowdon, model and TV presenter modelled this magnificent jewellery which managed to raise £41,000.
Both events on the 9th October raised over £250,000 continuing the charity support for more than half a million people in the UK each year.
The event was covered by OK magazine and QVC shopping channel.
Mikimoto are proud to be associated with such a worthwhile cause and will continue to support Breast Cancer Care in 2004.
